What is TID (Tag ID)?
The TID is the unique, factory-set identifier permanently written to an RFID chip at manufacture.
In depth
Unlike the [EPC](/glossary/epc), the TID (Tag ID) is locked by the chip maker and cannot be rewritten. It uniquely identifies the physical tag itself, not the asset it is attached to.
Asetavo can read the TID alongside the EPC to detect tag cloning or swapping — if the EPC you expect appears on a tag with an unexpected TID, something has changed.
