Set up an RFID reader
Add a fixed portal or handheld reader, copy its one-time secret, and connect it to a zone.
Tracking → Readers → Add reader
Name it after where it is mounted (e.g. “Portal-04 · Loading dock”) and choose the kind: fixed portal, handheld sled or phone.
Assign a zone and location
Events from this reader are attributed to that zone, which is what alert rules watch.
Copy the reader secret
The secret is shown once. Configure it on the reader or gateway — it signs every batch of reads it sends to Asetavo.
WarningThe secret can’t be shown again. If it’s lost, use Rotate secret to issue a new one.Confirm it’s reporting
The reader list shows when each reader was last seen. Revoke a reader to stop it being accepted.
For integrators: how readers authenticate
Readers post batches of tag reads to the reader ingest endpoint with four headers — device ID, timestamp, nonce and an HMAC-SHA256 signature over those values and the body hash. Requests outside a ±60-second window, or with a re-used nonce, are rejected. See the Developers page for the exact format.
