The best asset tracking software in 2026, compared honestly

Seven asset tracking tools compared on what buyers ask first: is there a free option, what does it cost, which tags and RFID does it support, and what is it built for. Every competitor fact comes from the vendor’s own pricing or product page, checked on 9 October 2026, with a link to the source.

Disclosure: Asetavo wrote this page and is one of the products compared. We pick by use case rather than ranking, and we say where Asetavo is not the right fit.

Method

How we compared

Four criteria, all taken from public vendor pages on 9 October 2026. We did not use review sites, scores or ratings, and we did not test competitors’ products hands-on. Plans change, so confirm with each vendor.

  • Free option and published price

Is there a free plan, a free trial or free open-source software, and is a starting price published on the vendor’s own pricing page?

  • Tags and RFID

Which identification methods the vendor’s own pages mention: QR, barcode, NFC, UHF RFID, and fixed readers.

  • What it is built for

Assets you own and keep, stock you count by quantity, or IT hardware. The right tool depends on which you have.

  • Hosting

A hosted cloud service, or software you install and run on your own server.

FAQ

Questions about choosing asset tracking software

There is no single best tool. It depends on what you track and how. For physical assets you label and lend, look for a free plan or trial, published pricing and the tag types you need. For stock counted by quantity, an inventory tool may fit better. For IT hardware with automatic discovery, an IT asset management tool fits better. This page picks by use case for that reason.
